Annual SocialJoin us in celebrating our partnership with the National Conservation Training Center. Let us show you the joys of becoming a member of our community. Create life-long contacts who share a passion for the world around us. This membership driven even features sustainably-harvested wines and organic cheeses. We end this event with a short conservational film selected for the occasion. Prior to the social, a guided tour of the National Conservation Training Center’s archives is available. Mark Madison, NCTC historian, leads Friends members on an exploration of the vast collection of wildlife and service memorabilia. All items locked within share a fundamental aspect of the Fish and Wildlife Service. These items showcase our nation's history, promote the Fish and Wildlife brand (the patented duck stamp as example), and illuminate their role in reducing illegal trade. Included are contraband items made from endangered species, Rachel Carson’s magnifying glass, elaborate ivory carvings, mounted lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), as well as many other interesting treasures.

Quarterly Lecture SeriesAttend and support the NCTC Quarterly Lecture Series. Through this program, leading conservationists give quarterly lectures in their areas of expertise. Oral lectures and films are typical for this series. Various topics ranging from wildlife documentaries to instructions for becoming a sustainable community have been presented. Books by the presenting authors are available for sale during and after the event. The books are sold by Four Seasons Books in Shepherdstown, WV and Friends of NCTC receives a percentage of the sales. Please see our Events page for our upcoming events in regard to this series. |

SUPPORT FOR THE FALLEN COMRADES MEMORIALIn dedication of our fallen Fish and Wildlife employees, the National Conservation Training Center erected a wall memorial honoring those who died in the line of duty. Those who want to remember, honor, and support these fallen heros can donate towards this cause. Your donation will be used to pave the surrounding courtyard. An inscription, with limited characters, can be engraved onto your donated brick. Visit our Memorial Brick page for more details. |

American Conservation Film FestivalAttend and support the American Conservation Film Festival, which the Friends of NCTC helps sponsor. This venue provides a rare opportunity for the public to view an international collection of some of the most important, newly released conservation films. A special emphasis is placed on films with Appalachian themes. The festival provides dedicated and talented conservation filmmakers an audience to show their works, most of which will never make the local cineplex. Recently, we awarded the Best Student Film winner. |
